Ok. So Albania. There’s a lot of talent here. I mean, they’ve only been at this for about 7 years and have already produced not only 2 of my Overall ESC winners, but 2 of my top 5 Eurovision Songs Ever (“Imazhi Yt/The Image Of You” by Anjeza Shahini in 2004 and “Më Mërr Në Ëndërr/Carr Me In Your Dreams” By Kejsi Tld in 2009). However, I typically don’t get very much into FiK (Festivali I Këngës a.k.a. the Albanian Selection) until much later, because they do a lot of songs, don’t make studio versions available, It seems completely random and there’s a lot of stupid ballad about war and crying. But I’m trying to be up to date this year.
So the Official FiK process for this year was to Select 38 songs to compete in 2 Semi Finals. From these songs, an “Expert” Jury will chose 9 songs to advance to the Grand Final, where a panel of judges will award points to their top 10 Songs. I know that I don’t work like that, so I changed it a litt.e bit.
I divided the 38 Songs into 4 Quarter Finals. From each Quarter Final, I selected my top 4 Songs. After the 4 Quarter Finals, I chose 4 Wild Cards.

Wild Cards
I then divided the 20 Songs into 2 Semi Finals. In each SF, I listened to the all the songs at least 4 times and then awarded them “Televotes” based on well..just what felt right. The top 4 Songs from each Semi Final advanced. Then I listened to the Non Advancing songs and selected 2 Wild Cards.

Final –
In my Final, I listened to all the Songs over the course of 5 Days. At then end of each Day, I awarded Eurovision Style Points. On the 6th day, I awarded double points to the songs overall. This chose my top 4 Songs, who advanced to the Second Round. In the Second Round, i awarded Televotes to chose my winner.
