My First Norwegian Semi Final 2012 -

Ok so this is going by my First Contest.

My Initial Impressions –

Initial impression – Overall I was disappointed with the songs in the First SF. The only song that stood out to me after my first listen was “Evelator”. I found this SF to be full of mediocre songs…not great, not terrible, just mediocre.

01 – Elevator – 

My initial favorite. I really dig this song for a few reasons. I like the modern, electronic beat. It has a great hook and a just fantastic melody. Love! 09 Points out of 10.

02 – Så Vidunderleg – 

At first, I really didn’t appreciate this hauntingly beautiful ballad, but it’s really growing on me. It’s simple and sweet and just has so much heart. I’m really liking it more and more with every listen. 6 Points out of 10.

03 – High On Love – 

A very fresh an modern song. It has a strong beat and the chorus just explodes into awesomeness. Great hook…erm I am thinking this song is more and more fantastic with every listen. A truly enjoyable song. Very dramatic! Ugh and then we get to the “I don’t want this to break my heart/I don’t want this to break my heart” and I just love it more! 9 Points out of 10.

04 – You Break It, You Own It – 

I like this song. It varies between fast and slow but has a cool Indie feel throughout. Not bad at all. 5 Points out of 10.

05 – With Love – 

A nice, sincere ballad. I really enjoy this song. It has a great build, a nice chorus and a pretty good build. 7 Points out of 10.

06 – Little Bobbi – 

I kinda don’t get this song. It’s like Nordicaly ethnic, but like modern? And it’s a rap song? Erm… anywho. It’s alright I guess, just soooooo not my taste. 4 Points out of 10. 

07 – Somewhere Beautiful – 

A gorgeous, beautiful and amazing song. This song is the definition of an amazing ballad. Soft start, nice build and perfect lyrics. Nora’s voice is simply perfection. I just can’t help but adore this song more and more with every listen. 8 Points out of 10.

08 – Don’t Touch The Flame – 

And just for something different, here’s a “Rock Song”. Of course it’s terrible and I immediately despise it. 2 Points out of 10.

Comments - 

In the end, when it came down to it, i just had to give "High On Love" and "Somewhere Beautiful" my top 2 Spots. Although all 5 Songs in my "Top 5" were pretty awesome, these two songs just stood out to me as being better than the rest. I'm gonna keep my eye on "Somewhere Beautiful" because i just can't help but adore it more and more with every listen. 

"Elevator" gets my 3rd place and a second chance. "With Love" gets my 4th place and a second chance. As for "Så Vidunderleg"...well this is another song i'll keep my eye on as its growing on me.

In the Actual SF, "Somewhere Beautiful" nabbed the top spot, "Don't Touch The Flame" got second and "High On Love" came in Third.
