My Initial Impressions –
I was EXTREMELY impressed with the overall strong quality of the songs in this Semi Final. It finally felt like Norway!

01 – Keeps On Dancing –

A cool, rock song. I like it, but after a few listens it just falls flat. I like it, but not enough to give it any sort of preference when it comes to moving on. 6 Points out of 10.

02 – I’ve Got You –

This is a nice, simple, sincere and folksy song. It has some pretty great moments, but it is cursed with being thrown into the best Semi Final of MGP 2012, and thus I just can’t give it any sort of place to advance. 6 Points out of 10.

03 – Make It Better –

A nice, dancey up tempo number. I enjoy the steady beat, Tommy’s voice and the overall feelings of this song. It has a great, catchy beat and melody and a fantastic message. It has a really cool, modern feel. A fantastic song for sure. 7 Points out of 10.

04 – Another Heartache –

This ballad starts of slow, but you can just tell that it has a lot of potential. The bridge grows into a pretty fantastic chorus. I really enjoy the different musical levels of this song and the positive message. I really like it. 7 Points out of 10.

05 – Crush –

Erm…AMAZING! Now this is what I’m talking about! I freaking LOVE this song! From the start, this somewhat cheesy dance number draws you in. Malin is a GODDESS! Everything about this song is wonderful, from the modern beat to the dancey hook to the fantastic chorus! I have a feeling a lot of people will have a “Crush” on this number (see what I did there?) This is officially my song to beat! 12 Points out of 10.

06 – Ola Nordmann –

This is a rather fun, folksy rock number. It just screams “NORWAY” to me. It’s nice and I enjoy it but in this strong SF, I just think it doesn’t measure up to some of the other songs. 7 Points out of 10.

07 – You And I –

Fantastic! This is probably the most modern song in the whole SF. It’s very high energy. I love it! I really enjoy the somewhat ethereal quality of Minnie’s voice. The more I hear it, the more obsessed with it I become. I love it’s danceyness, it just begs you to move along. I’m also really in love with the lyrics. Perfection. 10 Points out of 10.

08 – Shapeshifter –

Another up tempo number and of course I adore it. It has a bit more Drama then some of the other songs. The intro is a little subdued, but the chorus is just an eruption of sound and melody. Very pop with just a hint of rock. An excellent number to be sure! 8 Points out of 10.

Comments –
Overall, I had a somewhat difficult time with my voting in this Semi Final, mainly because of the number of great songs! However, from the Moment I heard it “Crush” has been my absolute favorite and I think it might win my whole MGP. “You And I” got my second spot in the final with relative ease. I had a hard time chosing between “Make It Better” and “Shapeshifter”, but at the moment, I’m digging “Shapeshifter” a little bit more, but they both get a spot in my Second Chance Round. I was torn between “Another Heartache” and “Ola Nordmann” as they both have their moments, but I’m sure at least one of them will pull a “Wild Card”.

Before the contest, I’d predicted “Crush”, “Make It Better” and “Shapeshifter” to advance, as I thought these were the three songs that the Norwegians would dig most. I knew “You And I”, despite being one of my favorites, was just a bit too much for the Norwegian voters.

In the actual SF,  “Ola Nordmann” managed to come out on top, which surprised me a little but not too much. As I said before, it’s very “Norway”. “Make It Better” pulled the second spot and “Crush” got third (yay).
